A diligent man does the right thing because it's the right thing to do, not due to threat or temptation.
A man who acts well is a good man, but he who acts well because he is tempted by the pleasures of a good reputation is a lesser man in my opinion, than those who act well simply because it is right.
There is no stronger force than a man who acts righteously without regard for threat nor temptation. Since it is between him and God, the creator of the universe, he has infinite courage, because in all situations, God is present.
What would a man not do for the creator of life? He stares up at the sky, not looking at the men and women who look to him. They follow him because he follows only God. This was the story of Jesus.
In silence, we all know in our hearts what is right. Perhaps morality is simply the intuition we have inherited from our ancestor's experiences regarding what should / should not be done to maintain healthy bodies, minds, families, relationships, and societies.
In my experience, I can sit and connect with this intuition, and immediately start producing a list of things I should do in order to maintain healthy bodies, minds, families, relationships, and societies. I believe each of us has this intuition, and that we should be acting from it at all times in order to help steer our society in a positive direction.
