To carry our species forward, each group of humans has required a leader, or group of leaders to make important decisions like where to set up the settlement, who does what, which foods are allowed, etc. Changes in power can be almost imperceptible- only apparent if you're looking for it, and overlooked if you're not. Leaders whose benevolence is uncorrupted should celebrated and hoped for, because the love of such people can make their subjects' lives safe and enjoyable. An example of a leader whose love for society was evident (at least to me) is Steve Jobs,
When I was 16, I detested the idea of being lead by anyone after generally becoming aware of different ways that many people in power have acted foolishly, and mistrusted pretty much all organisations that had power over me, like the Police, Government, etc. Do they really have my best interests at heart? Corruption exists in these organisations since they're just groups of people who are subject to short-sightedness and small-picture-thinking, although I believe that corruption in organisations can be purified.
I'm still very much an individualist.
