Immediately after someone has given you a gift, it is inappropriate to speak badly of it.

The 'Be Nice Program'.

The 'Be Nice Program' is the name I give to the phenomenon that is this:

In the same way that robots can be programmed to do many things from one order (destroy a house, car, and dog, when ordered to 'destroy') humans can be programmed to do many things from one order.

As I grew up, I gradually discovered I could interact socially in 'autopilot mode' by giving myself one instruction, either unconsciously or consciously, that allowed me to do many things from one simple instruction, and get by without needing to

Examples of instructions:

• Avoid conflict

• Be nice

One order may be 'be nice'.

Here are some examples of the many things that one might do from this one order:

• "Hmm, yeah, hmm, definitely." "*Something that enables the other person to continue blathering.*"

The fix is to learn to get used to conflict.
